The Most Stressful Place To Commute In The UK Has Been Revealed

Those of us who have to commute already know how difficult and stressful it can be. Whether you commute by car or rail, it's never fun to have to deal with other people on your way into the office.

While it's pretty stressful anywhere, a new study reveals the most rage-inducing city of all to commute in - and you'll be surprised to learn it's not London.

Nope, there are actually worse places than the capital to try and drive into work.

Conducted by property website Good Move, the investigation concluded that York is actually the most stressful place to get through during the morning travel rush.

The survey of 2000 UK workers found that 51 per cent of people in the region in the northeast of England saw their stress levels increase on their daily commute.

It gets worse, with around half of the drivers in London saying that their travel has a negative impact on their mental health, while 47 per cent in Aberdeen admitted to "getting annoyed" behind the wheel.

Other nightmare areas for commute drama included Birmingham, Nottingham, Oxford, Cardiff, and Glasgow, with over 42 per cent of drivers feeling "frustrated" on their daily trip into work.

You might think that this would be the case across the board, but not all commuters found their commute that difficult, with drivers in Bristol finding their commute the least stressful.

Ross Counsell, director at Good Move, said: "Daily commutes are harming the mental health of Brits all over the country, but many are still prepared to travel in order to have better jobs and homes.

"While everyone has an idea of their dream home or career, it is so important that people get a healthy work-life balance and don't sacrifice their mental wellbeing".

While many of us have no real choice but to commute into work, it seems that the most important thing is to ensure that we all have a healthy work/life balance.

Just remind us not to move to York...
