People are calling out massive double standard after Harry and Meghan were criticised for holding hands

People are calling out massive double standard after Harry and Meghan were criticised for holding hands

After Prince Harry and Meghan were called out for holding hands, people are sharing pictures of Zara and Mike Tindall doing the same.

People have once again noticed a huge double standard with the treatment of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after the couple were criticised for holding hands at Westminster Hall.

Members of the Royal Family attended the Queen’s procession from Buckingham Palace through the streets of London on Wednesday 14 September.

Prince Harry and Meghan paid their respects to the late monarch with a bow and curtsy to the Queen’s coffin.

As the Royal Family left the service, some people were particularly offended by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex holding hands and they ran to social media to air their grievances.

One disgruntled Twitter user shared: “#PrinceHarry #MeghanMarkle disrespectful until the end. It was a funeral and again, disregard for protocol and respect to the late Queen. Cringe handholding to 'show' the world. Appalling.”

Another angry user tweeted: “The Royal Family leave our beloved Queen in Westminster Hall with grace and dignity except for Harry and Meghan who just have to hold hands like two lovesick teenagers. They really get on my nerves.”

“The Absolute Disrespect of Harry and Meghan strolling hand in hand in an official state ceremony to pay hommage [sic] to the Queen when we cannot even use any of their credentials to wipe the floor is an absolute Disgrace,” another person shared. “Life will repay them this honor [sic] this insult.”

Thankfully Twitter was not in agreement, with other users quickly finding pictures of fellow royals Zara Tindall – the daughter of Anne, Princess Royal – and her husband Mike, who held hands as they left Westminster Hall.

The pair also held hands as they bowed and curtsied to the Queen’s coffin. Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi also held hands.

However most people are only directing their frustration towards Prince Harry and Meghan.

People were quick to criticised the double standards, which mostly went ignored by those who freely expressed their anger towards the Sussexes for doing the exact same thing.

“We've reached peak stupidity today with Harry & Meghan haters, they're outraged because H&M were holding hands,” one Twitter user said. “In their rush to condemn Harry & Meghan they missed this. Unbelievably one response was this is ok because Zara doesn't have a title. Brexiter level contortions.”

Another person replied to a harsh tweet about Harry and Meghan, writing: “Did you switch off before you could see Zara and Mike Tindall doing the EXACT same thing or are you just a hater?”

A third Twitter user asked: “Zara and Mike were also holding hands, were they disrespectful or is that judgement limited to Harry and Meghan only”.

One popular tweet which attracted 32,600 likes compiled pictures of Prince Harry and Meghan, Zara and Mike and Princess Beatrice and her husband, reads: “Everyone criticising The Duke and Duchess of Sussex for holding hands but why isn’t anyone criticizing Zara Tindall & Mike Tindall, also Princess Beatrice & Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. This Shows How The British People Are Being RACISTS.”

The Queen is currently lying in state at Westminster Hall where thousands of people are currently queuing to pay their respects.
