Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Were Exposed To 'Level Of Cruelty' By Royal Family, Expert Claims

An expert has claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were exposed to a “level of cruelty” by the royal family.

An expert has claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were exposed to a “level of cruelty” by the royal family.

Former BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt believes the royals could have done more to keep Harry and Meghan within the Firm, and that the Duchess of Sussex could have benefitted the family had the couple stayed in the UK.

Hunt told the Irish Times: “[Meghan] was able to give a speech in South Africa about being a woman of colour who entered an institution that, to survive and prosper, needs to continue being the head of state in several other realms which are Commonwealth countries, and it failed to do enough to keep her within the institution.”

He added: “I mean, it’s an institution that adjusts and makes things up as it goes along. There’s a flag up, there’s a flag down. They can adjust their history when they need to.”

"They’ve managed to find a mechanism whereby [civilian] Prince Edward can attend the Cenotaph wearing a military uniform. They could have found a mechanism whereby Harry could have carried on. The fact that they didn’t smacks of a level of cruelty,” he added.

Supporters of the couple have previously argued that Harry and Meghan are owed an ‘apology’ for the way that they were treated, following the outcome of Prince Andrew’s lawsuit

Both Markle and the Duke of Sussex have since spoken at length at the racism and bullying they faced from sections of the press and from the public at large during their time in the UK.

And many believe that those who held unsavoury views about Meghan and Harry should be repentant, particularly in the light of Prince Andrew’s settlement.
