Parents have been warned to call the police if their child is contacted by a "girl named Ava Taylor" on Instagram.
Oasis Academy Brislington in Bristol sent out a safeguarding message to parents last week warning them to be extra vigilant with their children after reports of a man posing under the pseudonym 'Ava Taylor' tried contacting a few of the school's children.
The unknown man reportedly sent out inappropriate messages to one youngster, which was quickly picked up by the school.

In its statement the school warned: "Oasis Academy Brislington sent out a communication to parents at the end of last week to be vigilant with regards to their child's social media activities following reports that a local young person had received inappropriate messages from an unknown source."
"Our highest priority is the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff," it continued. "If one of our academies are made aware of any safeguarding risks they follow strict protocols to make the situation safe."
As per the school's protocol, it is now working closely with the local police to crack down on the issue. In the statement, it declared: "We work closely with our partners at Avon and Somerset Police on all safeguarding issues."

With children gaining a greater online presence, teaching them how to use the internet safely is as important as ever.
The academy is very aware of these potential risks and has emphasised the measures they have in place to reduce them.
In a press statement released this morning, the school said: "Oasis Academy Brislington has a continuous schedule of age-appropriate lessons and assemblies for all of our students on how to stay safe, including staying safe online."
The school has also encouraged parents who have any questions to speak to senior staff directly.
