We are set to face the coldest night of the autumn season so far, with temperatures predicted to plummet to as low as -9 degrees centigrade in some parts of Britain.

Naturally, it is Scotland that is set to see the chilliest weather, but some parts of England and Wales could reach as low as -7 degrees centigrade (19.4F) and it's still all down to the Polar Vortex.

The Met Office said Monday night (18th November) would be cold and frosty for many areas and could be the coldest night across the UK as a whole. Sounds like we're going to need one of those heated fluffy throws we mentioned are up for grabs. Dreamy.
The country has already seen a sprinkling of snow in the last week in some areas, thanks to a swell from the Arctic that moved towards the UK from Greenland.
Met Office forecaster Luke Miall told Tyla last week that we were expecting a chill "as cold air sinks down from Scandinavia and the Arctic". And he wasn't wrong.
And even after Dalwhinnie and Tulloch Bridge in Scotland plunged to minus 8.1C (17.4F) on Sunday night, equalling the current low record in autumn in Scotland, the Met Office predicts conditions are set to worsen tonight.

A frosty and foggy evening is ahead for parts of the country whilst the UK remains between two weather systems or a "weather window".
We really wish we'd set the heating to a higher temperature before we left this morning, damn it.
But a spokesman said the current cold spell may soon come to an end, with temperatures recovering throughout the week.

More cloud will push through in the south-west from the Atlantic, bringing an increasing chance of rain across the week. Surely not more rain? How is there any left? The UK could really do without it, too, given that some areas of the country are still battling flooding.
We're all for a white Christmas, but any chance mother nature could hold off for a few weeks?
