The new Apple iPhone 11 was announced yesterday and exciting new features include all-day battery life, a splash-resistant design and the fastest chip ever in an iPhone.

It's funny then that all anyone cares about is the pet portrait mode.

Yes, a globe of pet-lovers have honed in on the new feature - an update on the normal portrait mode featured in the all previous iPhones - which recognises your furry friends' faces as well as just humans.

Three new iPhones were unveiled at Apple's annual conference in the Steve Jobs Theatre at its headquarters in Cupertino, California on Tuesday (10th September): the iPhone 11, and iterations, the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

One of the announced features in the iPhone 11 was the dual camera system (the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max has three!) which includes a new ultra-wide lens, and updated camera features.

Now, the camera will be able to recognise furry faces too - something we think you can agree we're going to get a lot of use out of.

"With new kinds of portraits and more lighting controls, the dual cameras in iPhone 11 work together to create stunning images. And Portrait mode now works with everything you love to take photos of - that includes your best friends, two‑legged or four," Apple say.

Naturally, people were thrilled by the news, and hinted it could sway them making a purchase.

"IPhone, you had me at pet portrait mode. Time to make the ridiculous muppet cat an internet star," said one excited fan.

"Didn't think I needed to get the new iPhone but then I heard it had pet portrait mode and realized YOU all need me to get the new iPhone," said another.

Cool, huh?

Other really exciting features include a super HD screen, the highest-quality video in a smartphone, and "all-day" battery life. The dream.

Plus, the iPhones come in a range of six colours, from purple, to green, yellow, black, white and red.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max starts at £1,149, the Pro is £1,049 and the iPhone 11 is a cheaper at £729. All Phone are available for pre-order from Friday 13th at 1pm on the Apple website.
