Kate Middleton has paid a touching tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II in her carefully considered outfit for today's funeral.
With the funeral being held today (19 September) in Westminster Abbey, it's important to remember that there is a strict dress code for state funerals.
The chronicler of British society claim that 'an all black formal dress code is always respected'.

The website also states: “Ladies wear black knee-length dresses, or coats, black hats, and may also wear face-covering veils.”

The Princess of Wales has also made a touching tribute to Her Majesty with her choice of jewellery.
It turns out that Catherine wore the late Queen’s Japanese pearl choker necklace, the same one she wore to the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral, which was not a state funeral.
The necklace was a gift from Japan in the 1970s, which consists of four rows of pearls with a central diamond clasp in a curved shape.

The Queen reportedly wore the necklace to Margaret Thatcher’s 70th birthday.
Back in 1982, Her Majesty was said to have lent it to Princess Diana to wear at a banquet at Hampton Court Palace.
The necklace was then passed on to Catherine in 2017, who wore it to the Queen and Prince Philip’s 70th wedding anniversary, and also Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021.

William, the new Prince of Wales, released a moving tribute to his grandmother the Queen, which read: "She was by my side at my happiest moments. And she was by my side during the saddest days of my life. I knew this day would come, but it will be some time before the reality of life without Grannie will truly feel real.
“I thank her for the kindness she showed my family and me. And I thank her on behalf of my generation for providing an example of service and dignity in public life that was from a different age, but always relevant to us all."
Buckingham Palace announced the Queen's death at 6.30pm on 8 September and King Charles III ascended to the throne immediately.
Charles said in a written statement: “The death of my beloved Mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family.

“We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother.
“I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.
“During this period of mourning and change, my family and I will be comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which The Queen was so widely held.”
