Shocking text messages from Johnny Depp were read aloud in court this week as part of his defamation case against Amber Heard.
An audible gasp overcame the court on Wednesday when the actress' lawyer Elaine Bredehoft shared grim text messages that Depp, 58, had written about Heard, 35.

The messages were read out as part of a cross-examination of one of Depp's witnesses Isaac Baruch, who confirmed that he remembered receiving the texts.
Isaac Baruch was named as a childhood friend of Johnny Depp's, as well as a tenant who had been living rent-free in one of the Pirates of the Caribbean star's properties.
According to Elaine Bredehoft, Depp claimed in the text message to Baruch that he hoped Amber Heard's "rotting corpse is decomposing in the f**king trunk of a Honda Civic."

Another message read: "That c**t ruined such a f**king cool life we had for a while."
After confirming that the text messages were sent from Depp, Isaac Baruch brushed it off, joking: "He's called me a c**t in a text."
Elsewhere in the trial, Isaac claimed that he had also enjoyed a positive relationship with Amber Heard, telling the court: "I fell in love with her just like Johnny did.

"She's totally respectful, gracious, she's got great teeth. She treated me with complete respect."
Toward the end of his testimony, Isaac got emotional, telling the court: "I want this all to end - her to go heal, him to go heal. So many people have been affected by this malicious lie that she started and she created.
“It's not fair, it’s not right what she did, and what happened."

Johnny Depp is suing Heard for libel over a 2018 article in The Washington Post.
Depp’s legal team say the article implies Heard was physically and sexually abused by Depp when they were married, although the article does not mention him by name.
The trial comes after Depp lost a bid to overturn a damning High Court ruling which rejected the actor's claim that The Sun newspaper committed libel when they called him a 'wife-beater' for the alleged abuse against Heard.
