Zayn Malik Unfollows Ex-Girlfriend Gigi Hadid And Her Mum Yolanda On Instagram
Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid announced the end of their two-year relationship on Tuesday evening, sharing heartfelt statements with a few kind words about each other.
Despite their super loved-up appearance on social media, it seems like their romance just wasn't meant to be.
The former One Direction popstar penned: "Gigi and I had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and a friend.
"She has such an incredible soul. I'm grateful to all of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time, we wish this news could have come from us first.
"We love you all."
And echoing the words of her now ex-boyfriend, Victoria's Secret angel Gigi declared: "Break-up statements often seem impersonal because there is really no way to put into words what two people experience together over a few years... not only in the relationship but in life in general.
"I'm forever grateful for the love, time and life lessons that Z and I shared. I want nothing but the best for him and will continue to support him as a friend that I have immense respect and love for.
"As for the future, whatever's meant to be will always be."
But while the pair promised to remain close pals, it seems like Zayn has already thrown shade at Gigi by 'unfollowing' her on Instagram, as well as her mum, Yolanda.
Gigi hasn't followed suit though, and continues to follow her ex-boyfriend on the social media platform.
The 'Dusk Till Dawn' musician also posted a heartbroken message on his Instagram page just a few hours before the break-up was confirmed, writing: "When Life throws you lemons, catch em so they don't hit you in the f*cking face."
Despite pressing the 'unfollow' button on social media, an insider close to the couple, who broke news of the split first, claimed that the decision wasn't 'bitter'.
"This is definitely the end for now, but this isn't a bitter split and they both have respect for each other," a source told The Sun.
"It's a mutual decision so no one has completely ruled out a reunion in the future, but for now that's not where their heads are at."
Love is officially dead.
