Tom Cruise Has Reportedly 'Banned' Nicole Kidman From Their Son's Wedding
Tom Cruise has reportedly banned his ex-wife Nicole Kidman from attending their son's wedding.
Connor Cruise is set to tie the knot with his devout Scientologist Italian girlfriend, Silvia, in a Scientology ceremony, but according to reports, his mum Nicole isn't allowed to be there.
"Tom is behind this and what he wants is as good as law. Tom made the call and Connor followed," a source told Radar Online, going on to claim that Connor "worships the ground his father walks on" and would never go against him.
Nicole and Tom married in 1990 and adopted two children together, Connor and now 26-year-old Isabella. The actress also missed her daughter's wedding in 2015.
After filing for divorce in February 2001, Tom was given custody of their children. Both Isabella and Connor are said to be devout Scientologists.
"First, Tom would never even consider inviting Nicole to Connor's wedding because she's considered a 'suppressive person' by the church - and, second, he doesn't want her there," the insider claimed.
According to The Church of Scientology's official website, a surpressive person is someone who "seeks to suppress other people in their vicinity. A Suppressive Person will goof up or vilify any effort to help anybody and particularly knife with violence anything calculated to make human beings more powerful or more intelligent."
A suppressive person is also known as the 'Anti-Social Personality' who "seeks to upset, continuously undermine, spread bad news about and denigrate betterment activities".
The website goes on to state that those who follow the practices of the Scientology church don't associate with a surpressive person.
It seems like Isabella and Connor's relationship with Nicole is strained as they have rarely been seen together as a family since the divorce, with the actress revealing in a 2007 interview that they don't call her 'mom'.
They did, however, attend her wedding in 2004 to Keith Urban.
"I'm very private about all that. I have to protect all those relationships," Nicole previously told Who Magazine. "They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it's my job to love them."
