Piers Morgan has been admitted to hospital today - but couldn't resist jokingly apologising for 'not dying'.

The Good Morning Britain shared a selfie from his hospital bed to his Instagram account, although didn't explain why he had been admitted to hospital.

"Bad news: I'm not dying," Piers wrote along with the image, "I can only apologise for all the distress I know this will cause some people."

Piers could be seen with a tube attached to his face, and was wearing a hospital gown.

His followers were quick to wish Piers a speedy recovery in the comments section after the post was shared on Friday afternoon.

"Hope you back up soon matey," shared one, while another added: "Hope you get better soon don't like my morning coffee with Piers Morgan."

"We just can't have a good morning on Monday without you! Here's to a speedy recovery Piers," echoed another of his fans.

Despite Piers' ill health, plenty of his followers couldn't resist making a couple of jokes of their own, referring back to the moment Piers was sick after eating a vegan sausage roll from Greggs on a recent episode of Good Morning Britain.

Piers has been hitting headlines recently, as this comes after the TV presenter was involved in a Twitter spat with GoT star Sophie Turner.

It began when the presenter shared an interview with Corrie star Beverley Callard who was quoted saying celebrities are making mental health problems up to be 'fashionable'.

He wrote: "She'll be hammered for saying this, but it's 100% true."

But Sophie wasn't having any of it, responding: "Or maybe they have a platform to speak out about it and help get rid of the stigma of mental illness which affects 1 in 4 people in UK per year.

"But please go ahead and shun them back into silence. Tw*t."
