P.S. I Love You author Cecelia Ahern just confirmed a sequel to the romance novel we all know and love.

If you're not familiar with the Irish novel which inspired a film of the same name, the story follow a married couple, Holly and Gerry. Tragedy hits when Gerry dies from a brain tumour, but he leaves behind 10 envelopes for his wife, one to open every month after his death.

Each letter guides Holly through her grief, knowing that her late husband is still by her side - they are all signed off with 'P.S. I love you'.

The book was published in 2004 and reached number one best-seller status in Ireland, Britain, the United States, Germany, and the Netherlands, and was turned into the beloved movie starring Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler as the couple.

And now, P.S. I Love You is getting a sequel.

Irish author Cecelia announced the exciting news to fans of the tragic love story on Twitter yesterday, and there's already a release date for the book as well as a cover.

"I have BIG NEWS!" she exclaimed in the post, "I've written the sequel to PS I LOVE YOU - titled POSTSCRIPT. POSTSCRIPT will be published September 19th in the UK & Ireland."

The writer added: "I hope you'll welcome back Holly... & Gerry...& that reading it will be as emotional for you as it was for me."

Fans were delighted by the announcement, with one declaring: "Oh my god best news can't wait to read it."
