Woman faces backlash after wearing white dress at her sister's wedding

A woman has been criticised online after she dared to wear her own white wedding dress to her twin sister's big day.

TikToker Anastasia Domanico, from Pennsylvania, took to the video sharing platform where she revealed how she had chosen her own white, A-line dress for the occasion, cinched in at the waist with a black belt and bow.

Although many people were baffled by the choice, Anastasia was quick to defend her decision on social media.

One person wrote: "Did u say you're at your sister's wedding in a white dress...your wedding dress? What?"

While another said: "It's a beautiful dress but eum?? A wedding dress at someone else's wedding?"

A third added: "Wait. Your wedding dress at your sisters wedding???"

Jumping in to explain, Anastasia revealed it was actually her sister, Francesca, who had asked her to wear the dress.

As the wedding had a black and white dress code, Francesca wasn't fussed about any of her guests' fashion choices.

"Anyone at my wedding could have worn white, and I couldn't care less," Francesca told Insider.

However, as Anastasia was the maid of honour, Francesca explained she wanted her to stand out and asked her to wear the breathtaking gown, with a few minor alterations.

"I wouldn't have cared if it had the train, but the modifications of it made it look more like a guest or maid-of-honor dress," the bride explained.

While Anastasia had previously worn the dress to her own wedding in Venice two years ago, she added the black bow and removed the train for her sister's day.

And once they realised that Francesca had actually asked her twin to wear the dress, other TikTokers were much more understanding of the decision.

Adding her own comment, Francesca said: "I am the twin who asked her to wear her wedding dress!!!!!"

Another follower wrote: "As long as the bride is ok with it, it’s a beautiful dress and you look gorgeous."

While another added: "I was like wait but then went snooping and it’s actually really adorable and special thing to do with a twin."
