Woman left outraged after revealing husband left wedding early to ‘go to the pub’ with his friends

The bride opened up on exactly how her big day went

When we’re growing up and thinking about the day we’ll eventually get married, most of us imagine dancing the night away with our other half, exchanging vows that solidify our bond and ending the night by driving off into the sunset.

Even if you picture yourself having a less traditional wedding, the last thing you’d expect is people leaving early. You want your best friend there with you til the end, and you definitely want your spouse to be the last one standing on the dancefloor.

Something none of us daydream about is our significant other leaving early. Vows done, job done.

It’s hard to imagine anything worse.

Yet this was the earth shattering reality for one bride.

Taking to Reddit forum ‘off my chest’, she opened up about her experience that still leaves her ‘shaking with rage’.

She recounted: “My new husband had invited friends that I’d never met to our wedding, and was really pleased they’d turned up.

“However because they were only in the area for the weekend, he took the opportunity to take them out for drinks at a local pub… during our wedding reception.

“He left me there on my own, in my big poofy dress, feeling absolutely worthless with my family (and his) asking me where he went for an hour and a half.

“Even thinking about it now, years and years later, I am shaking with rage. It’s so humiliating and I feel so sad for the person I used to be. I can only imagine what other people were thinking.”

She then followed up with the only thing that could make her experience even marginally better: “Anyway, years have passed and I am now happily divorced.”

There was some more context added about the downfall of their marriage, with the now ex-bride explaining that they were married for eight years, with his behaviour getting more and more violent. They are now completely separated and he is barely in his childrens’ lives.

While this is surely the epitome of trash behaviour so assumedly quite rare, many people in the comments echoed similar experiences.

One person wrote: “Yep… I remember sitting ALONE at the wedding table. Didn't know where he was...Probably the first of my many many regrets. He's an ex now, too.”

Another person added: “My husband ditched me for 37 mins while it was eating time. Literally everyone’s sitting down eating at tables and talking and laughing and there I was pushing food around on my plate for 37 mins, while he took off to help the DJ with equipment.”

A third person said: “Mine was MIA when it was time to cut the cake AND time to do the bouquet/garter. He was out smoking with friends for twenty minutes while people searched. Wouldn't be the first time I was second to them. Now an ex as well.”

A fourth person simply wrote: “Woah. I don't even understand how you'd begin to handle that. I'm really so sorry, what an absolute d**k.”

You all deserve better!
