Fancy a trip to Manchester, Leeds or Sheffield? Or perhaps a weekend at Blackpool's Pleasure Beach? Well there's never been a better excuse - you can buy train tickets for as low as 5p.

Northern Rail are selling advance train tickets for just 10p for adults and 5p for children on hundreds of routes up north in September as part of its flash sale.

That's less than you'd pay to use the toilet in the train station.

The rail operators have over 8,000 tickets to sell at the ridiculously low prices, which went on sale on Monday 19th August.

Tickets must be for travel between 1st and 30th September, making it the perfect excuse to make a last minute trip to see friends as summer comes to a close.

The 10p tickets come on a first come first serve basis so be quick to snap them up! They can either be purchased through the Northern Rail website or app.

David Brown, Northern's Managing Director, said of the flash sale: "We had an exciting start to the summer with the launch of our first brand new trains. And we continued the great news for customers with the first Pacer retiring.

Just some of the cheap routes include Leeds to Blackpool North, Manchester Piccadilly to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Manchester Piccadilly to Liverpool Lime Street, Manchester Victoria to Leeds, Sheffield to Manchester Piccadilly, York to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, York to Leeds and York to Sheffield.

177 stations are involved in the flash sale, and you can see them all here.

Literally, what are you waiting for? Go, go, go!
