Bride wants divorce from husband after just one day after she revealed he broke her ‘one rule’

A bride requested a divorce 24 hours after their wedding after her husband violated the ‘one rule’ she'd had for their big day.

She revealed that she said it was ‘over’, but her friends warned her to give the big decision a rethink.

Writing to US magazine Slate, she explained the situation and asked their agony aunt section for some advice on her situation.

In a post, she said: “I never cared about getting married, but I wasn’t opposed to it.

“So when my boyfriend proposed in 2020, we decided to go for it.

“We each took on about half the responsibility for organising the wedding, but I think I was pretty reasonable about compromise when he really wanted something.”

She went onto detail that she had one 'hard-and-fast' rule when it came to the big day - that he wouldn’t rub their wedding cake in her face.

The woman continued: “My only hard-and-fast rule was that he would not rub cake in my face at the reception.

“Being a reasonable man who knows me well, he didn’t.

“Instead, he grabbed me by the back of the head and shoved my head down into it."

She then went on to say that the stunt was 'planned' as he'd had a 'bunch of cupcakes as backup'.

The newlywed did question whether she was overreacting, but added that she struggled with claustrophobia following a car accident she'd been involved in.

The agony aunt advised her to 'continue with your divorce' as her friends weren't going to be the ones 'who have to wake up every day with a man whose behavior massively turns them off'.

Adding: "Make a mental note about which of your loved ones don’t seem to value your happiness, and continue with your divorce."

And everyone in the comment section also agreed that her husband had broken major boundaries, and that he should have listened to her requests - which really weren’t too difficult to stick to.

One person said: “Brides put a great deal of effort into their hair & makeup.

This was cruel, ruined reception & photos.

“What a thing to have planned.”

Another said: “I feel like if you set a hard line with your partner, especially about something physical, and they flagrantly and deliberately violate it in front of a crowd of people, that is what is known as a red flag.”

While a third said: “It seems to me like him stating from the start that he doesn't care about how she feels or what she asks for, so i'm team divorce for sure!”

“So. This is now a thing that happens at weddings?" someone else said.

“And brides have to ask for it not to happen? And then this guy did it anyway,” another added.

I think it's a fair enough ask to be cake-free for a day you’ve probably dreamt of your entire life…
