It's sadly not a surprise, even in 2019, that women take on far more household responsibilities than men in the majority of households.
And now, new research has revealed that when it comes to Christmas, women also spend way more time making all the festivities perfect.
According to a survey by Christmas Tree World, mums and mother figures clock up five more hours on preparations and spend £655 more on gifts compared to any other family member.

Not only that, but mums were also found out to give out twice as many gifts and travel almost ten times further to drop off presents and attend Christmas dinners.
The study found that mums spend 12 hours on preparations to make Christmas fun a reality, from doing Christmas shopping and cooking Christmas dinner to putting up decorations.
However, at least women's good efforts don't go unnoticed - as mums were also named as the family member who Brits are most likely to say that Christmas wouldn't be the same without (44 per cent).
"Christmas is a time for giving, and this research really shows just how generous us Brits are when it comes to making the festive season truly special for our friends in family," Stephen Evans, managing director at Christmas Tree World said.

"It's clear that mums tend to be the person who really go that extra mile, whether it be slaving over a festive feast, stocking up on presents for the whole family and delivering them far and wide or decorating the house for a truly magical Christmas experience.
"What better time to show our appreciation to those members of the family who go over and above than at Christmas?"
Showing appreciation is all well and good, but this Christmas, let's call for a more fair dividing of tasks and preparations: after all, Christmas is for everyone so we should all chip in and help.
