Fake tan blunders are not unheard of by any means, however one embarrassed mum made the ultimate mishap and ended up fake tanning her five-year-old son by mistake.

Hannah Lacey, 29, from Colbrun, North Yorkshire, used the "darker than dark" bronzer before watching TV with her son Kai. The pair fell asleep and snuggled up together, but little did she know the artificial tan had transferred onto Kai's face and arm.

Mum-of-three Hannah didn't notice the artificial fake tan was on Kai when they woke up. It wasn't until she spotted an unusual lighter patch on her own arm that she realised the fake tan had rubbed off from her arm onto her son.

After lots of frantic scrubbing, Hannah was unable to wash it off and had to phone Kai's school to warn them about the fake tan faux pas.

She said: "The next morning I woke up early to grab a shower and wash off the top layer of the tan. I noticed I had a patch down my arm that was a bit lighter and I didn't think much of it until my son followed me in the bathroom and I saw his face."

The pair managed to see the funny side of the situation, with Kai finding his new look absolutely hilarious. "I just knew instantly it was my tan as he was the identical shade of my arm. I was laughing and showed him in the mirror and he was laughing too.

"Kai found it hilarious and didn't want me to try scrubbing it off however due to school I took as much as I could off. But it didn't budge.

"I rang in [the school] and told them what happened. The receptionist said she would tell his teacher he isn't dirty for me, but only after she stopped laughing down the phone.

In an even more surprising turn of events, Hannah was shocked to realise how many other mums have been guilty of both her and her son's accidental fake tan experience.

She added: "I didn't really realise so many mums relate to it didn't think it would get this much attention."
