Mum Had Miracle Baby After Eight Miscarriages Just Weeks Before Husband’s Vasectomy

A mum has had a miracle baby after 10 years of trying and eight miscarriages, just weeks before her husband's planned vasectomy.

Rachael Bosworth, 38, tragically lost eight babies at six weeks for almost a decade but never gave up hope she'd finally have a baby with her husband Ian, 47.

Ian, however, decided to organise a vasectomy as he couldn't face watching his wife go through yet another trauma.

Once he'd planned the procedure, however, the couple found out Rachael was pregnant for a ninth time.

Having gone through so much heartache, Rachael didn't do a pregnancy test, but a scan at six weeks and one day revealed she was still pregnant, and the couple's son Ellis was born in January 2017 weighing 5lb 15oz.

Two weeks later Ian, an IT consultant, had his vasectomy.

Rachael, a sales director from Bramley, Hampshire, said: "We had a fantastic marriage but the only thing which was missing was a child.

"I know I'm biased but he's the most beautiful boy in the world. At one point I was thinking I needed a bit of a reality check.

"It just didn't seem to be happening for one reason or another. But you shouldn't give up hope.

"You should keep on pushing. You need to keep knocking on doors. That's what happened to me and now I have Ellis. He's my best friend."

Rachael says that when she finally found out about Ellis, she "couldn't believe it".

"To finally be in a position of hearing a heartbeat was just something else. I just couldn't believe it. It was our little miracle.

"It wasn't until 21 weeks when I felt him kick and it felt real. Despite everything I had been through for the best part of a decade I had a normal and healthy pregnancy."

The pair had been trying for a baby since they got married in 2007. Doctors still don't know why Rachael suffered so many miscarriages.

"I'm now ready to speak out and help other people," Rachael adds."I've joined the miscarriage association to do everything I can to help other women.

"When I told my family and friends they just couldn't believe it. Then one of my friends who has struggled to conceive turned to me and said 'you've given me hope'. And that's what it comes down to."
