This is the adorable moment a brave pooch jumped into a swimming pool to save a woman he believed was 'drowning'.

The heartwarming incident was all captured on camera by the one-year-old German Shepherd's owner, Lauren Bright, at her home in America.

Lauren was relaxing by the pool with her faithful dog Kaiser by her side, when her friend Bria jumped into the pool to have a swim and cool down.

As she pretended to struggle in the water by splashing around, the brave young dog instantly leapt into the pool to 'save' Bria.

Kaiser then grabbed hold of her ponytail in his mouth before doggy paddling her back to safety to the steps at the edge of the pool, leaving his owner stunned.

Bria seems shocked at first as the dog drags her across the pool, letting out a scream, but begins to laugh as she realises Kaiser is adorably trying to help her.

The video has obviously gone viral for all of the right reasons, as the act of bravery from the dog is enough to warm even the the coldest of hearts. It has now been viewed more than 504,000 times on Facebook too.

Speaking of the moment, Kaiser's proud owner Lauren said: "We were so shocked he did that, but I was so proud at the same time.

"Bria was confused to what was happening at first until she realised he was trying save her."

While it may not look like it from the video, the pooch has apparently been fearful of the pool after he accidentally fell into freezing water earlier this year in March.

Lauren recalled: "Kaiser has feared water ever since he fell into freezing water back in March.

"We have been trying to coax him back into the water ever since."
