The couple who were stranded in the Bahamas after turning up 45 minutes late to get back on their cruise ship have been revealed as Maria Gonzalez Roesch and her newly wed husband.

They were on the Royal Caribbean cruise holiday on 15th February when they quite literally missed the boat after a day of exploring the Bahamas.

The Symphony of the Seas ship had been docked at Nassau port, and holidaymakers had been told to be on board by 3.30pm. However, the couple arrived 45 minutes later rat 4.15pm, just as the gangway was removed and the doors were closed.

Dramatic footage showing the couple desperately running for the ship emerged and it wasn't long before it was shared all over the world.

The clip, which was filmed by Norwegian Bliss cruise liner, shows Maria and her hubby running to the front of the ship and chatting to staff onboard who we assume told them it was too late. As the cruise liner pulls away, the couple wave their arms and shout "no!"

Then the ship begins blasting its departure horn signaling a goodbye to the port, leaving Maria and her husband behind.

Maria later explained on Instagram how the cruise had always left at 5.30pm on previous days of the trip, but that day the ship had left earlier.

The couple, who were on their honeymoon, had been given a new itinerary, but hadn't read it properly as they'd wrongly assumed the ship would leave at the same time it had on other ports.

Maria also revealed they weren't the only couple to make the mistake, as six other passengers were also left stranded at Nassau.

It happened on the sixth day of the seven day cruise and the ship was on its way back to its final destination in Miami, Florida.
