Guests have been left furious after being invited to a bridal shower on the condition they bring envelopes of money and food.
Writing in an Australian Facebook group, one woman - the cousin of the bride - described the request as 'tacky'.
She explained the event had been advertised as a 'potluck' party where everybody brings a dish.

The woman, who has not been named, said she "personally didn't think potlucks were a wedding/bridal shower thing.
"To me that's just tacky, and then to tell me and my mum what to bring as our dish? No thank you."
She continued: "It baffles me that they would put 'this is an envelope party' because it's classless.

"Interesting way they asked for money as a gift 'envelope party."
She also revealed the bride had also been hosting a flower making party, in order to get people to help make decorations for the wedding venue.
Unsurprisingly, hundreds of people commented on the post, criticising the bride for asking for asking for too much.
One social media user commented: "Don't throw a party if you can't afford to feed your guests AND if you can't afford to feed your guests don't ask them to bring food AND money."

"They should at least feed you if you are asked to bring money to an envelope in a shower," another wrote.
In August, a bride called off her wedding after guests refused to contribute thousands of pounds towards her big day.
The bride said the money was to go towards helping her have a 'big blow out wedding' and be a Kardashian for the day.
The wedding had cost the couple $60,000 (£46k) but the pair only saved up $15,000 (£11,600) themselves, which is why they were asking guests to contribute towards their big day.

Their guests weren't too happy with having to pay for their place at the ceremony and reception, though, to which the bride responded with a rant on social media.
"Just f*cking give me money for my wedding. Won't even sugarcoat," she wrote.
