Mum says nursery makes gourmet breakfasts for busy parents when they drop off their kids

Mum says nursery makes gourmet breakfasts for busy parents when they drop off their kids

Aussie mum Maggie Chretien was taken aback by the nursery's delicious treats and even shared her breakfast on TikTok.

We’ve all heard the phrase that 'there is no such thing as a free lunch', however, one Aussie mum is proving this wrong.

In fact, Maggie Chretien has revealed that her kid’s nursery has been providing parents with gourmet breakfasts despite the cost-of-living crisis.

Understandably, the mum-of-two is like a kid in a candy store over the delicious treats she’s been receiving – even sharing them on her TikTok.

Going under the name @thepeninsulamumma on the app, the writer and presenter excitedly shared what she’d been given that morning in the short clip.

"On today's episode of 'What Did Daycare Give Parents', you're not going to believe it, this is GOURMET!” she gushed, whilst unwrapping the goodies in the car.

It turns out the mum-of-two had received a mouth-watering turkey, cranberry, rocket and Swiss cheese bagel, holding it up for the camera for her 11.3K TikTok followers.

“It just keeps getting better!” she squealed, before tucking in off-screen.

However, the gesture was clearly more meaningful for the influencer and busy mum, as she pointedly wrote in the caption: “My daycare hands out food to parents so we can eat on the run! They get it."

Understandably, the video has gone viral on the social media app, with over 70.7k people watching the short clip.

There has also been more than a little bit of schoolyard jealousy in the comments.

With the rising cost of childcare, most were a little miffed that they didn’t receive such benefits.

One even revealed the staggering sum they were paying, saying: “I pay $119 a day and all I get is a car full of sand and gastro.”

The mum-of-two often share snippets of her busy life on social media.

Another joked: “Dammit, we only get plagues from our daycare.”

Others were more intrigued by the Melbourne mum’s video, asking where she sent her toddler so they too could get some snacks.

They wrote: “Is this like a chain daycare? Cause this is where I want to send my kid hahahah”

A user even admitted that they’d even considered a similar style nursery, but had been put off by the insane fees.

“I was considering a daycare like this, they even had dinners-to-go at pick up for the entire family, milk, fresh fruit and veg selections. $$$ thought,” revealed the user.

Sadly with the cost-of-living crisis, even basic childcare is unaffordable for many families.

According to a report, the charity Coram estimates that parents could pay up to £14,836 per year for a full-time place.

Here’s hoping that more nurseries offer similar support to parents.
