Mum slams 'gross and unnecessary' children’s Christmas book in supermarket

Mum slams 'gross and unnecessary' children’s Christmas book in supermarket

She wasn't impressed with one particular detail

We are now less than a month away until Christmas and I'm sure many of us having been loving all the festive offerings on the shelves of our local supermarkets.

From jolly decorations and mulled wine ingredient stockpiling to presents galore and Crimbo dinner favourites.

However, it seems not every Christmas-themed item on sale right now is being welcomed with merriment after one mum slammed a 'gross and unnecessary' children's Christmas book being sold in a supermarket. Have a look:

The mum, Klyanne who goes by the handle @kellanne23 online, took to TikTok to share her thoughts on the matter.

Klyanne began by explaining to viewers: "So I'm here at Kmart, right?"

She added that she was in the 'children's book area' and was shocked by what she 'stumbled upon'.

The product in question was a book titled 'Santa's Stuck!' which had a cut-out throughout the pages where a bent over Santa's plushie behind was protruding out.

A speech bubble on the front cover saw the stuck Santa calling out: "HO-HO-HELP!"

"I just find it really, like, not for kids," she went on.

The book featured Santa's behind front and centre.

While admitting that Father Christmas' bum cheeks were 'squishy' and 'maybe a sensory thing', with a poking demonstration, Klyanne declared: "Why is this a book for children. Why?

"It's not right for kids."

The overlay text read: "Kmart what is this?"

The short clip has since racked up more than 18.3k views on the platform with the caption: "Don't get me wrong I love Kmart but I don't think this is for kids."

Kylanne has since turned the comments off on the video.

And Kmart's Santa book is by no means the first Christmas product to be blasted online.

The mum said the book was 'not right for kids'.

Earlier this month, Sainsbury's removed a 'distasteful and shameful' Christmas card from its shelves after facing major backlash.

The card in question, which wasn't manufactured by Sainsbury's but sold in their stores, features a sweet picture of two snow-covered pigs, with the message: "Don't worry, I hear we're getting some blankets!"

Shoppers were supposedly outraged by the tongue-in-cheek card, with one Twitter user branding it as 'distasteful' and 'unnecessary', adding: "Why @Sainsburys thinks this is so funny it’s worthy of a Christmas card is beyond me?"

"This card is completely vile, Sainsbury’s should be ashamed of themselves," penned a second.

Another chimed in: "Animals freezing to death is the holiday spirit. How awful."

A final Twitter user echoed: "Shocking @sainsburys. It's very offensive to vegetarians, vegans and animal lovers."

Tyla has reached out to Kmart for comment.
