An Immersive Monopoly Experience Is Coming To The UK Next Year

If the real-life version is anything as competitive as the board game, we're worried.

We play it on Christmas with our families (with the obligatory row that follows) and the smallest of wins makes us consider swapping careers to become a property magnate. And now, fans of the classic boardgame have the chance to play it IRL around London.

Yes, an immersive Monopoly experience is coming to the capital which will see you and your friends traipse a giant Monopoly board, completing challenges and 'buying' property.

Hasbro, who made the original game, has teamed up with production company Selladoor Worldwide, the team behind award-winning musicals Aladdin and We Will Rock You, for the exciting project.

We know that the real-life version of the game will last 75 minutes, but as for other details, the makers are keeping schtum for now.

David Hutchinson, chief executive officer, Selladoor Worldwide said: "We've been working for over a year with Hasbro on this exciting partnership, developing our concept and vision to bring one of the world's biggest board game brands to life in this thrilling experiential theatre landscape.

"Trends in our sector are moving in a very exciting direction with demand from a new generation of theatre-goers looking to experience live theatre differently and to be immersed in the world of the narrative in a different way."

He added: "I couldn't think of a better organisation to partner within this growing market, than the company who have brought together family and friends for decades to play some of their iconic games."

News of a live-action Monopoly follows a growing trend for immersive experiences.

Earlier this year, IT Chapter Two was turned into an immersive experience which terrified horror lovers in London, while Keanu Reeve's-fronting John Wick III was turned into an escape room.

The event is not for the faint-hearted. (

For Halloween, we learnt about a spooky cocktail experience coming to London on 31st October.

The crafty mixologists at Kraken Black Spiced Rum have teamed up with legendary Hollywood director and all-round king of horror Neil Marshall to bring you Kraken Screamfest: Director's Cut.

Known for his work on The Descent, Dog Soldiers and Game of Thrones, cinema mastermind Marshall has built his very own house of horror from what he calls "his darkest imaginings".

Every last detail has been trick-or-treated to the director's signature ghoulish touch, from the haunting set design to the special menu of spook-themed Kraken Rum cocktails.
