If You're Not Doing The Flamingo Pose, Are You Even On Instagram?

There are countless looks to choose from when it comes to posing on Instagram, and the latest one you need to be aware of is the flamingo.

The pose involves, as you might have guessed, standing with one foot in the air, just like the elegant pink bird. Popular variations of the pose include standing against a wall and putting one knee in front of the other.

The stance has been adopted by some of Instagram's biggest stars, including Kendall Jenner, Dua Lipa and even Queen Beyoncé herself.

Everyone from Winnie Harlow and Gigi Hadid to Hailey Bieber and Kourtney Kardashian has been perfecting the flattering pose, accompanied by a bare leg, some super high heels and a nonchalant expression.

While this brings back major throwback vibes for us, reminiscent of The Princess Diaries' foot-popping moment, this is very much a 2019 Instagram trend.

In previous years, there have been all kinds of other trends on the social media platform, from posing on top of piles of books to showing off your "thighbrow" (that's the line that appears between your hip and your thigh when you sit down).

Then there's the "candid" pose (where influencers stare out oh-so-thoughtfully at a landscape), the mirror selfie and the gazelle this involved posing with one leg propped up on a higher level.

Not forgetting Barbie Feet, which involves standing on the balls of your feet, almost as if you're wearing invisible heels.

We're still just trying to capture a selfie that doesn't betray all our late nights on Twitter laughing at Love Island memes, but we can dream of one day being able to pull off these superb Insta poses a la Kendall Jenner. Although by the time we master it, there will no doubt be another hot trend to watch out for.
