Crumpled piles of clothes, days-old plates and cups, makeup on the carpet... we've all been guilty of having messy bedrooms in our teenage years, much to the anguish of our long-suffering parents.
But one parent who it all got a little too much for was BBC presenter Nicky Campbell, who took to social media to call out his daughter on her less-than-savoury living space.
Posting a photo of his daughter's bedroom, Nicky wrote: "This is completely unacceptable. You are nearly 19 years old and I am bloody sick of it. I don't care that you were going to tidy it up. It just really p*sses me off."
Despite Nicky later revealing the tweet was tongue in cheek, with his daughter Breagha (who is actually 21) being fully involved, Nicky's vent struck a chord with many other parents who took to social media to one-up the presenter with their own children's grimy quarters.

One exhausted dad shared a photo showing piles of miscellaneous belongings piled in his daughter's bedroom. "TBF this was the stuff that was not only on floor but was stuffed in cupboards and under a futon," he captioned it, adding it was "just SOME of the stuff."

The same tweeter later shared a second photo featuring a pile of dirty glasses (one with mould on) collected from his daughter's bedroom. "I've been to the doctors for the necessary jabs and ventured into my daughter's bedroom today. And found this clutch of dirty drinking glasses. And yes, that is mould at the top of the water bottle," he wrote.
Another parent tweeted: "Its not just you Nicky [sic]" in solidarity with the presenter, before sharing a photo of an unmade bed, with junk on the floor.

One dad shared a photo of the mess created in just one night by his 20-year-old", guessing "after two weeks this clothes mountain would be a metre high."
"Mate, that's nothing. Amateurish even. THIS is untidy!" another parent shared alongside a photo of his own messy offspring's room.
"I'll take your 19 y/o and raise you my 22 y/o medical student son, who's been home for 'minutes'...." one mum added.
You can't help but laugh, can you? Don't worry, parents, they'll grow out of it...
