People Are Losing Their Minds Over This Hand-Twist Challenge

We'll level with you, this hurt our brains.

The internet is losing its mind over a deceptively simple-looking hand trick.

Shared by TikTok user Katt Loizou (@kattloizou), the hand-twist manoeuvre looks oh-so-easy, but trust us, it has the potential to leave your limbs in a tangle and your brain hurting.

The Tyla team attempted the trick and were split down the middle, with some able to copy the trick straight off the bat, and others totally bamboozled.

Kattrina Loizou, from Norwich, is the woman behind the new viral challenge.

Asking viewers, "Hey, so, can you copy me?" she proceeded to twist, turn and link her arms, before unravelling into a seemingly unexplainable ending position.

Intrigued? Allow us to take you through individual steps of the confusing hand trick.

Easier said than done, right? We'll admit that Kattrina's moves had Tyla's writers flummoxed.

"That's confused me a lot!" was one reaction.

"It's the way your fingers are crossed at the end," insisted another.

"I think it's the way your arms are crossed at the beginning, just tried it another way and it works for me," said a third.

After a lot of trial and error, we found that going by the advice of a YouTube commentator and "slowing down the video" to pause on each individual move enabled us to do the trick.

Here are some pointers we found helpful in enabling us to do the hand twist successfully:

  • When crossing her arms at the beginning, Kattrina's left arm is under her right arm.
  • This means that once she's linked her fingers and brought her hands up to the centre, her left arm is in front of the right.
  • Then, when she places her index fingers either side of her nose, they are crossed over, with the nails against either side of the nose, and the left finger in front.
  • Ending in this position should mean that you are able to neatly unravel yourself. Famous last words, eh?

We won't let you in on how long it took us to figure it out - and who knows, maybe there are more tricks involved that we're not wise to?!

See how you get on - and prepare to get your limbs tied in a knot.
