Look, we all know that raising a child is expensive to say the least. But have you ever stopped to consider how much you shell out for your friends' babies?
Think about it: rhere's the baby showers, the post-birth presents, the christening, and, of course, the birthday party every year... it all adds up.
According to a new report from Thortful, each time a close pal extends their brood you're set to be a staggering £1,242 out of pocket.
It sounds like a lot, but the findings suggest that your friend's bundle of joy could actually cost you money every year for the first 10 years of their life.

The research also breaks down how much a friend would typically spend on gifts, racking up a bill of £106 a year over that decade on gifts for various special occasions.
It finds that £29 is the average annually for Easter presents, while you'll typically shell out £37 for birthdays and £40 for Christmas gifts. Better get saving now, then!
And if that didn't scare you enough, we *dare* you to take a look at how much we end up shelling out on other friendship obligations, like hen-dos, too.
One recent study showed that in the UK, we collectively spend £1 billion a year on hens, with each party costing a whopping £507 on average. Ouch.

Of course, when we're talking about our best pals, we're happy to foot the bill.
However, one woman shared a hilarious itemised receipt she'd received from her friend's bachelorette, which included everything she owed, including 18p for a Sprite.
On the screenshot, the bride had listed the total cost of everything including food, gifts, and décor - then divided it by seven people, which presumably is how many people attended the do.

The bride really wanted everything to be completely equal, because it's not just the expensive items that were added to the bill - she even added wholesale items like the cost of a bottle of Sprite, which she charged each of her guests 24 cents (18p) for.
Although you never know, maybe she's saving the pennies for when all her pals start having babies?
