People put off buying disposable vapes after discovering how they’re made

People have vowed never to use a disposable vape again after seeing a video showing how they’re made.

The number of people vaping has exploded in recent years, as more people shun cigarettes in favour of the often-sweet tasting e-cigs.

The NHS still recommends e-cigarettes as a smoking cessation method, saying that the devices are ‘far less harmful than cigarettes, and can help you quit smoking for good’.

However, the NHS goes on to state that vapes ‘are not recommended for non-smokers’ or anyone under the age of 18.

There are also some concerns about the long-term effects of vaping, with the NHS saying: “Vaping is not completely risk-free, but it poses a small fraction of the risk of smoking cigarettes. The long-term risks of vaping are not yet clear.”

But it wasn’t the potential long-term consequences that saw people swearing off disposable vapes for good after watching a video showing how they’re made. It was something much more straightforward.

In the clip, which was shared on YouTube, we see the whole process of how the brightly-coloured vapes are made.

The videos starts off by showing a design for the brightly-coloured vapes on a computer screen, before we’re shown inside a factory where the devices appear to be safety tested before being assembled.

So far, nothing surprising, right?

Except people were left feeling slightly irked by the fact that those putting the vapes together were not wearing gloves when handling them - particularly when it came to touching the mouthpiece.

Commenting on the clip, one person wrote: “You are telling me that they are touching the tips of the vape without any glove on? Bruuuh I would not buy these lol I ain't looking to have a stranger finger print on my vape tips when I buy it.”

Another wrote: “Well, that doesn't look very appetising, how they attach the mouthpieces without gloves. That was definitely the last one I bought after seeing that.”

A third said: “That's nasty. No gloves when putting the top on that you breathe in through? No thanks, stay away from vapes altogether.”

While someone else asked: “Where's the gloves?”

Others thought the whole process seemed wasteful, with one viewer writing: “It's kinda wasteful when you consider what goes into them, battery etc. Just [to] get chucked.”

Another person asked: “Do all these just end up in the landfill?”

“What a wasteful product,” said a less than impressed viewer.
