​Dad Builds Incredible Table Using Palettes To Accommodate Everyone At Christmas

It's lovely to get all the family together to enjoy a feast on Christmas Day, but fitting everyone around the table to eat is often problematic.

Which is why a savvy dad from Scotland built his family their very own banquet table to enable all 18 members to sit down together at once on 25th December.

Graham Storrie, 48, upcycled 22 pallets he found at work to create the long table and topped it off with real wooden flooring as the surface.

The pallets were free, whilst the pack of five wooden flooring slats were £25 for a pack of five from B&Q.

He rounded things off with tartan red paper that he added to the bottom of the structure for a festive and Scottish flourish - which set him back £10. So in total, the clever family man built an 18-person table for £35.

Graham from Edinburgh said: "Christmas can be expensive so I like to cut costs where I can, and I love a challenge.

"We didn't need the pallets anymore at work, so I brought them home and first cable tied them together before drilling them to make the table more secure."

He then used the flooring packs to create a smooth top.

"The Christmas wrapping paper was the final touch to make it look more appealing," he added.

"I am proud of the result as I'm not a craftsman, I just learn as I go along."

Graham didn't finish it in one go, putting hours in here and there, but he thinks it took about ten in total.

He adds: "It is amazing what you can do with pallets and they are always being thrown away in workplaces."

Graham is now looking forward to tucking into a turkey this year with all his family sitting at the table.

"This will be the first Christmas hosted at my house so I am glad everyone will have somewhere to sit now," he said.

Plus, because he didn't need to buy a new table, he said that "the money saved can go towards presents". This is one lucky family!

He does plan to dismantle the table after the festive period, as it takes up so much space, but he plans to re-use it again in the summer.

Just think of the huge BBQs or dinner parties he could have in 2020.
