People Don't Use Doorbells Anymore As They Think They're 'Agressive'

If you hate pressing the doorbell - or hide around the corner when yours rings - then you're not alone.

There's two kinds of people in this world: those who stroll up to their friend's home and confidently press the doorbell and those who would prefer to text their mate "here" to let them know they've arrived as they linger awkwardly on the driveway.

But if you fall into the latter category then you're not alone as Twitter users seem to think using a door bell is "aggressive", and would much prefer dropping whoever they're visiting a message to alert them to their presence.

That's right - after one person tweeted: "Can someone write an article on millenials killing the doorbell industry by texting "here" [sic]," scores of Twitter users came forward with facts on why the doorbell is becoming a thing of the past.

"The doorbell legit scares me now. I jump every time. It just seems so aggressive now when you could just text," offered one person who's officially over people ringing her doorbell.

While somebody else declared it as a "button" for their anxiety, sharing: "TRUE, it's an anxiety button for me."

"Someone needs to make a doorbell that texts the person you've arrived. That way we don't even have to text it," chimed in another Twitter user wading into the debate.

Others were just as apprehensive answering the door when the bell rings.

A fourth reasoned: "Ringing a doorbell is like a voice call at this point; it's either an elderly relative or some kind of scam." I mean, fair enough.

Some even pointed out that if you text rather than using the doorbell then you can avoid waiting around for them to answer the door by dropping them a message claiming you're outside (when you're really still in the car).

However, some people are trying to keep the doorbell industry in business as one tweeted: "Ok but this is actually kinda annoying though, please just ring the doorbell."

Looks like the doorbell is about to become a thing of the past...
