Mum Left Mortified After Accidentally Feeding Children Penis-Shaped Pasta
What's the best way to stop kids kicking and screaming for something as you're walking down the supermarket aisle? We'll tell you what - giving in and buying them whatever they're screaming for. Might not be a helpful long-term parenting strategy, but it's certainly one way to avoid a meltdown.
In this case, all the fuss surrounded penis-shaped pasta - unbeknown to Rebecca Brett, who innocently believed she was brightening her daughters' day with smiley-faced shapes.
Hang on, who even buys penis-shaped pasta? We didn't realise it was so in demand.
The 24-year-old mum has spoken up about the hilarious moment she accidentally served the dish to her three-year-old daughter Ava, who had 'begged' for it in the local supermarket.
But it was only when Ava and her sister Emilia, seven months, were tucking into the dish at home that she realised she had bought novelty-shaped PENIS pasta.
On closer inspection, she realised it was meant for cheeky hen do dishes. Or a night in, alone. Whatever floats your boat.
That must have been pretty awkward. Now to grab it away from them in a panic or let them carry on enjoying their lunch - what in the world would you do?
Rebecca, from Dunstable in Bedfordshire, said: "I was mortified when I saw what I had done. It was a hectic morning and I just bought it without thinking.
"When I saw Ava with the tiny penis in her hand, my heart sank, but I quickly burst into hysterical laughter at my blunder!"
Rebecca took to Facebook to share her mistake, and the post has been liked by 340,000 people and shared 176,000 times.
It said: "Mum of the Year award most definitely does not go to me.
"I wandered into the market and Ava begged me for some "smiley face" pasta she saw.
"So I bought it, cooked it for the girls for lunch today.
"Thought it looked a bit odd, re-looked at the bag and it's only bloody penis pasta.
"How could I not even realise even while cooking it?!
"So my 3 year old and 7 month old are currently sat eating a bowl of d**ks for their lunch. Life."
Rebecca and fiance, Simon Ridgeway, 31, can't believe the attention it has been getting.
"I couldn't wait to tell Simon and show him the photos when he got home," she said.
"I posted it on Facebook because it really is the stupidest thing I've ever done and I thought my friends would appreciate it - I never expected it to go viral!"
At least she's taken it on the chin... Nothing we say is going to sound right in this one.
