Woman shares ‘life-changing’ new way to close a cereal box

TikTok is home to all sorts of weird and wonderful hacks, including some that seem to make SO much sense once you've seen them in action.

One woman went viral for sharing a nifty way to close a cereal box - something that sounds fairly mundane at first, but actually turns out to be pretty handy.

After all, how many times have you gone to grab some cornflakes, only see your other half popped them back in the cupboard without rolling the bag down, let alone sealing the box properly? Day ruined.

TikToker Katy (@subjecttochange2022) posted the tip online a few years back, writing: "You've been doing it wrong all this time!"

Katy, from Ramsbottom in Lancashire, filmed herself closing the box in an innovative way that shuts it more securely, in turn ensuring your cereal never goes stale.

She said she first found out about the hack when Kellogg's printed it on some of its packaging, originally posting the video on Facebook before later sharing it on TikTok after joining the platform.

It involves folding the larger flaps down into the box and bending the sides inwards, creating a neat curved top.

In the clip, Katy also advised that it helps if you 'don't tear the card when you open it'.

Speaking to Tyla's sister site LADbible back in 2020, she explained: "It was years ago when Kellogg's once put instructions on their Cornflakes. I'd say a good 10 years back.

"I originally made the video on Facebook. But like masses of people I joined TikTok out of boredom.

"My friends think it's hilarious. I was so shocked it took off. No make-up on, and I said 'Ceweal' so I'm sort of gutted!"

In a follow-up video, Katy showed us once again how to do the trick (this time on a box of Weetos), also responding to people who suggested it was a waste of time.

"People saying 'Oh, aint nobody got time for that', it doesn't take long," she said in the footage.

"And let's be honest, guys: all we have is time at the moment!"

While some people weren't convinced, many agreed it was a 'life-changing' trick.

One commented: "Just so you know... you changed my life. If I never learn another thing in life... I'll die happy."

Another joked: "TikTok is like free college."

A third added: "This is for people like me who always mess up the opening and it will never close again."
