One In Three Pet Owners Refuse To Go On Holiday Without Their Pet And We Can Relate

And as many as half suffer from ‘separation anxiety’ when they do go away, according to a new study.

How do you generally feel when you go on holiday? Excited? Happy? Stressed that you haven't packed enough bikinis and have left your passport in your bedroom drawer? These are all totally normal emotions when you're jetting off on your jollies.

You know what else is apparently completely normal? Getting anxiety about leaving your beloved furry friend at home.

In a recent study conducted by expert dog walking and pet sitting services provider Tailster.com and Pets At Home to mark their new partnership, 44 per cent of those polled in the research said they would rather leave their partner at home than their dog, with 33 per cent have even gone as far as refusing to go on holiday without their pet.

When asked what their biggest worries were about leaving a dog while on holiday, 79 per cent of pet parents admitted to worrying about their animal's happiness while a further 37 per cent admitted to missing the special bond they have with their fur baby when they can't be at home.

Apparently the emotional toil felt by pet owners can be so severs that three out of five of those polled also said the frequently leave work or social occasions sooner than they should do to let their dog out, while 65 per cent admit to having more photos of their four-legged friend than their partner.

We feel that, TBH.

"Pets are a treasured part of the family, so it's no surprise that owners struggle when their pet is out of sight and they miss that special bond they have with them," explained Indy Sangha, CEO for Tailster.

CEO of Pets at Home Peter Pritchard added: "We recognise that the summer season can be more stressful for pet owners than exciting and we want to ensure that we offer absolutely everything a customer might need to keep their pets happy, healthy and safe whilst they are on holiday."

Better get down there then, shouldn't we!
