Couple Who Did Dog-Ternity Shoot Trick Family Into Thinking They're Pregnant
Newlyweds Emma Duffy and Lindsay Jeffree from Perth, Western Australia, decided to sit for a series of tongue-in-cheek family 'paw-traits' to announce the arrival of five-month-old poodle Charlie.
Business owner Emma and 28-year-old husband Lindsay posed for the photos armed with 50 pink balloons and a sign announcing 'we're expecting four extra little feet'.
But when Emma, 30, shared pictures of police officer husband Lindsay tenderly cradling Emma's tummy, some loved ones mistakenly thought the pair were expecting twins.
The couple, who aren't planning on having children, were forced to confess that their new bundle of joy was in fact a dog.
Emma said: "We're not planning on having children much to the dissatisfaction of our family but we got a new puppy, which has been about 18 months of me begging in the making.
"We're at that age now where all our friends are having babies and all these gender reveals, maternity shoots and cake smashes.
"Sometimes I feel a little bit envious so I thought 'why not? Let's have a bit of tongue-in-cheek over the top fun'.
"We sent lots of really drawn out pictures to our families and the very last one was of the puppy.
"Some people, including my mum, didn't look at them all the way through before they called us and were like 'oh my gosh you're having twins'.
"My dad was really unimpressed he said 'you just don't joke about those things Emma'.
Emma and photographer pal Stephanie Pease researched maternity and new baby photo shoots and recreated poses next to Lake Monger at sunset with new arrival Charlie and her six-year-old sister cavalier-spaniel Ruby.
The photoshoot stunned family and friends as they knew the couple didn't plan on having children.
Emma said: "We're 80 per cent sure we're not having kids but people say 'you'll change your mind'.
"When people saw the shoot they were like 'oh my god they didn't want kids and now they're having kids - so scandalous!'"
Photographer Stephanie Pease said it was one of her favourite shoots so far in her two-year career.
Stephanie said: "I think it's honestly one of my favourite photo shoots I've ever done. I was so excited that when I went home I started editing them that night."
