Love Island star Mike Thalassitis took his life after taking alcohol and cocaine, and left suicide notes next to his body, an inquest has heard today.

The inquest confirmed the 26-year-old died by suicide, with toxicology results showing there was cocaine, alcohol and paracetamol in his system at the time of his death, the BBC reports.

The reality TV star was found hanged in the woods near his childhood home in Edmonton on 16th March 2019, and was discovered by a female jogger.

The inquest heard how Mike left a series of messages to his family is a black book beside his body.

Senior coroner Andrew Walker said: "There were a number of notes left behind and messages in which Mr Thalassitis clearly set out his intention that his life should come to an end."

Mike's family paid tribute to him outside the court following the hearing.

Dave Read, Mike's manager and agent, read out a statement on their behalf, saying: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their kind messages and support during this very difficult time.

"Today's inquest concluded the sad news at the loss of our beautiful son and brother.

"Mike was a wonderful son and brother and will be dearly missed."

At the time of Mike's death, a spokesperson for the Met Police said: "Police were called to a park near Latymer Way, N9 at 0928hrs on Saturday, 16 March to reports of a man found hanged.

"Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a man, aged in his 20s deceased.

"At this early stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious. Police are in the process of informing the man's next of kin. A file will be prepared for the coroner."

Mike's death comes after fellow Love Island star Sophie Gradon, who took her life on 20 June 2018 after taking alcohol and cocaine. The deaths of the two stars has lead to stricter duty-of-care procedures on the show.
