Woman shares shocking result after cutting into microwaved hard boiled egg

If you're hunting for a new way to amuse yourself in your kitchen - and cause a mess at the same time - then might we suggest microwaving a boiled egg and cutting into it?

We stick all sorts of foods in our microwaves but an already boiled egg doesn't often tend to be one of them, meaning lots of people don't know what would happen if you did put one in there, before cutting it open with a knife.

That's exactly what Raegan from Texas wanted to know as she carried out this crucial experiment on behalf of our collective curiosity.

Slicing into a boiled egg that had been in the microwave, it was compressed a little by the pressure of the knife before the blade made an incision, at which point there was a large egg-splosion.

The egg was left thoroughly destroyed on the plate, while a huge cloud of steam had blasted out of it, and there's a very good explanation for why this happens.

When you boil an egg the insides turn from a liquid state into a solid one, but not every bit of liquid is gone.

If you then stick that boiled egg in the microwave and turn it on, the remaining bits of liquid become superheated and ready to blow the moment air is added.

Cutting into the egg adds air to the reaction and the superheated pockets of air inside go boom, producing a loud noise and leaving you with a very scrambled egg.
