Girls Aloud announce they're reuniting for tour dedicated to Sarah Harding

If you're anything like me, you'll be beyond buzzing to find out Girls Aloud have at long last announced they're reuniting for a tour to give us some much-missed 2000s girlband music nostalgia.

The pop supergroup, responsible for smash-hits like 'Love Machine', 'Sound of the Underground', 'Something Kinda Ooooh' and 'The Promise', have dedicated the tour to bandmate Sarah Harding, who sadly passed away from cancer in 2021, at the age of 39.

The likes of Nicola Roberts, Cheryl, Nadine Coyle and Kimberley Walsh took to social media late last night to announce the exciting news to their adoring fans.

"We’re so excited to announce that we will be touring the UK & Ireland in May and June 2024," the girlband wrote.

"A celebration of Sarah, our music and our incredible fans. We can’t wait to sing and dance with you all once again. -Cheryl, Kimberley, Nadine & Nicola."

While there's been some speculation about whether the quartet were releasing new music or not, the band explained the tour will be a' celebration of Girls Aloud's rich back catalogue' including all our favourite noughties bangers.

Speaking about the tour, which is now just a matter of months away, Cheryl said: "We all started talking about the possibility of doing something to celebrate Girls Aloud's 20-year anniversary a few years ago.

"The anniversary seemed like an obvious thing that we would celebrate. But when Sarah fell ill all priorities changed. She passed away a year before the anniversary and it just didn't feel right, it felt too soon.

"It's the right time to celebrate Sarah, it's the right time to celebrate the band and the right time to celebrate the fact we can still do this 21 years later. That's a big honour in lots of ways."

Fans, myself included, clearly couldn't contain their excitement with one Instagram user commenting: "This is the best news I’ve heard in years!"

"The way I am SCREAMING rn," penned a second.

A third chimed in: "I can’t even tell you what it means to me to hear those songs live again. I’m in tears!!!"

"IT'S ABOUT TIMMMMME!" gushed a fourth while another quipped: "Thought I had say goodbye to the fan girl in me but let’s goooo!"

A final Instagram user echoed: "YES GIRLS!!!!!!! So exciting. *runs off to play 'Sound of the Underground' on repeat!*"

Me too.

The 'Biology' hit-makers will grace Dublin, Belfast, Manchester, Cardiff, Newcastle, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Nottingham, Leeds, Birmingham, London and Liverpool during the long-awaited tour.

Tickets for The Girls Aloud Show go on sale next Friday (1 December) at 9 am and you can sign up at girlsaloud.com for an exclusive pre-sale next Wednesday (29 November).
