Hannah Waddingham breaks silence after she hit out at photographer who asked her to ‘show some leg’

The Sex Education star opened up about the shocking ordeal, which took place at the Olivier Awards

Hannah Waddingham has finally broken her silence after she hit out at a photographer who asked her to 'show some leg'.

Last Sunday (14 April), the 49-year-old Sex Education star attended the Olivier Awards at the Royal Albert Hall.

Hannah was on hosting duties at the annual awards ceremony for the second year running and successfully completed three outfit changes during the ceremony.

However, before she took to the stage, the mum-of-one posed for pictures on the red carpet wearing a stunning purple gown with a thigh-high split.

While she smiled for the cameras, Hannah was forced to confront a member of the press who demanded she show off a little more leg.

In response, the presenter could be heard saying: "Oh my God, you’d never say that to a man.

"Don’t be a d*ck otherwise I’ll move off. Don’t say 'Show me leg'. No."

Faultless response, that.

The actor then shook her head before walking off and speaking with the photographer who made the ridiculous request.

Speaking on BBC's The One Show yesterday (17 April), Hannah has now broken her silence on the ordeal.

Host Alex Jones, began by asking the actor: "Many people have already applauded you on the red carpet after your comment to the paparazzi.

"How are you, Hannah at the other end of that?"

The Sex Education star addressed the comment on The One Show.

The Ted Lasso fan-favourite responded: "Thank you, mate, because that's a very nice thing to say, actually.

"I'm good. I called out what needed to be absolutely necessary to call out."

Hannah also assured viewers that she received a written apology following the offensive comment.

"And so now," she continued. "I'm so ready to move on and I'm not having it overshadow what was the most, I think even more than last year, the most glorious, joyful, positive night."

She was praised for the 'amazing' way she handled the situation.

She carried on: "You know, and I don't usually say this, but I was really flippin' proud of that night.

"It did exactly what we wanted it to do. The whole place erupted like a bunch of lunatics."

Hannah finished up: "So, that's what the takeaway should be."

Fans have since praised Hannah for the way she handled the situation with one X, formerly Twitter, user writing: "You are incredible and you should be so proud!"

A second gushed: "WE LOVE YOU AND WE ARE PROUD OF YOU, HANNAH!"

"Well done Alex for asking how she was and Hannah, you are amazing," echoed a final Twitter user.
