Love Island star Dani Dyer reveals contraceptive coil ‘disappeared’ in her body in horrifying discovery

Dyer said it went 'missing' in her body and she now needs surgery to get it out

Love Island star Dani Dyer has spoken out about how her contraceptive coil went ‘missing’ in her body, admitting she could have easily ‘ended up with a fourth child this year’.

Watch her explain what happened here:

Dyer, 27, is mum to three kids after welcoming twin girls last May – her first children with West Ham footballer boyfriend Jarrod Bowen.

She’s also mum to two-year-old son Santiago, who she shares with ex Sammy Kimmence.

But the TV personality has revealed how she could have ended up adding to her brood unintentionally, after it transpired that her contraceptive coil had gone AWOL.

Taking to Instagram to explain what happened, she told fans that she now has to have surgery to remove the coil.

"So long story cut short because I do like to ramble,” she began.

“I had to have a couple of appointments today for a nurse to check my Mirena coil.

“I've not really been getting on with it and I thought let's just go and get it checked and see what's going on.”

She said the coil had simply ‘gone missing’, adding: “It's completely dislodged and moved.

“He said what's happened is so rare so I don't want to scare anyone but I've got to have key hole surgery because of where it is embedded.

“It's nothing major but I just can't believe what has happened. Imagine, I could have ended up with a fourth child this year."

Dyer has previously spoken out about how motherhood has impacted her mental health, having experienced a spike in anxiety after welcoming first child Santiago in January 2021, suddenly navigating life as a single mum against the backdrop of Covid lockdown.

While promoting E4 documentary Dani Dyer: Is This Anxiety last year, she told the PA news agency: “I just feel like, obviously, anxiety, mental health is spoken about, but I still feel like there is that stigma around motherhood and how you’re supposed to feel when you become a mum.

“So I just feel like it was something to talk about, and definitely encourage other young women, and obviously, other mums to speak up if they feel like they really need to, and I really hope that sort of comes across like that on the documentary.”

She added: "Not everyone has family around the corner, not everyone has mommy friends, so it’s finding them… It’s just reaching out and not sitting in and letting your thoughts take over.

“It’s just going right, OK, I want to make a change, I want to make a difference for myself, I want to be happy.”
