Britney Spears' ex-husband Jason Alexander calls claims in her new book a 'lie'

Britney Spears' ex-husband Jason Alexander calls claims in her new book a 'lie'

He's taken to Instagram to share his opinion on the memoir

Britney Spears' highly-anticipated memoir, The Woman in Me, has finally been released and people all over have already got straight into tucking in to the book.

The book, which came out just yesterday (24 October), is said to be a 'brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope'.

Opening up about two decades of little-known details about the 41-year-old pop icon's life, Spears candidly discusses a whole plethora of things including her relationship with Justin Timberlake, the real reason she shaved her head back in 2007 and the highly controversial conservatorship which she only broke free from in 2021.

In the memoir, she also opened up about her short-lived marriage to Jason Alexander, 42, who has since come forward to calls some claims in the book a 'lie'.

The mum-of-two shared the truth about the marriage to her childhood best friend whom she married in Las Vegas back in January 2004.

She revealed she was 'just honestly very drunk' when she said her vows and the pair were soon annulled just 55 hours later after first tying the knot.

She added: "He and I got s***faced. I don't even remember that night at all, but from what I've pieced together, he and I lounged around the hotel room and stayed up late watching movies - Mona Lisa Smile and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - then had the brilliant idea of going to A Little White Chapel at three thirty in the morning.

"People have asked me if I loved him. To be clear: he and I were not in love."

Spears continued: "I was just honestly very drunk and probably, in a more general sense at that time in my life, very bored."

While Spears saw the wedding as 'innocent fun', it's clear her family didn't think the same with them acting 'like [she'd] started World War III'.

"Everybody has a different perspective on it, but I didn't take it that seriously," she penned. "I thought a goof-around Vegas wedding was something people might do as a joke.

"Then my family came and acted like I'd started World War III. I cried the whole rest of the time I was in Las Vegas."

Alexander has been consistently posting about Spears to his 22.3k followers on Instagram for quite some time now with the latest series of posts claiming it was Sam Lanksy who wrote the book and not the 'Everytime' singer.

He uploaded a picture of a screenshot of a Google search of Lanksy with the overlay text that read: "Thank you so much, Sam Lanksy, for your truthful' words in your-I mean, 'Britney's book'.

"I love when everything is a lie," he added with a series of emojis before asking: "Where is that book money going #liesformoney."

Alexander captioned the post: "Written by… #goodtry."

Another post saw Alexander hit out: "Where is all the Money??? Don’t you think the book should be about who, where and why??

The Woman in Me is now available to purchase after being released today (24 October).
