Adele reveals hilarious real story behind famous meme of her

The 'Rolling In The Deep' singer discussed the meme at her concert

Whilst being transformed into a meme is something that most celebrities dread, for Adele going viral online for her facial expressions was rather amusing.

Back in 2022, the 'Rolling In The Deep' singer rocked up to an NBA All-Star Game with musician boyfriend Rich Paul, unaware that she was soon to be turned into an internet staple.

After the seemingly solemn star was caught on camera looking everywhere except into the lens itself, the footage began trending like wildfire.

With the meme used by millions of social media users on a daily basis - particularly to describe an unamused scenario - you'd think the singer would be sick of hearing about it.

But discussing the footage during her Las Vegas residency shows earlier this week, she admitted she finds it funny that she looks as though she doesn't 'give a flying f**k'.

"So, I know it sounds crazy, but I really don’t like being famous, right?" she explained to her music fan audience.

"So, obviously, I know sitting courtside at a basketball game, you’re ‘asking for it’ or whatever, but Rich was, like, working the room and, you know, talking to players and people.

"And I didn’t mind! I was just there on my own, looking for Michael Jordan, to be honest with you."

The 'Someone Like You' singer explained that the camera man had asked her if she minded them filming her to put it on the screen, after which she begged them not to.

"I said, ‘please don’t, please don’t, I just cancelled [my Las Vegas residency], I really don’t want to’," she said.

She claims the camera crew had continued to film her anyway - having been denied permission twice - so she admitted that she began to sulk.

"The reason my lips look like I had filler, I’ve got naturally big lips, right?" she opened up about her pouty expression.

"I don’t need filler. But the reason I looked like a different person was because I was sulking.

"I was like, ‘these motherf*****s have come back and they’re filming me against my will’. And I didn’t realise they were airing it on TV, I thought it was just in the room, you know?"

The Grammy-winning star went on to say: "I was ignoring [them], looking everywhere but the camera, because I was very annoyed because I had asked not to be filmed.

"But I guess I was asking for it by going. Also my face is just very meme-able, I can’t help it."
