Remaking a film that's so close to everyone's hearts is a dangerous game, especially when one of the best loved characters was played by the late Robin Williams. No one can ever take his place, and fans will fight for his honour no matter what.

However, one person who might be able to change their minds has been rumoured to be in talks for the live-action remake; our favourite Prince, the un-ageing Will Smith.

Director Guy Ritchie is currently looking for the lead roles of the Genie and Aladdin, and according to reports, Will Smith is the front-runner for the Genie.

Ritchie told Vulture about his decision to go ahead with the remake:

My stories are really about street hustlers. That's what I know how to do. And Aladdin is a classic street hustler who makes good.

Nothing's set in stone yet, but according to the Hollywood Reporter,

Smith was previously in talks with Tim Burton about the live-action

The general consensus suggests that people are pleased with the idea.

The remake will be similar to Beauty and the Beast which was released a few weeks ago, and it's proved to be quite the money-making machine, pulling in more than a billion dollars worldwide.

What do you think of the potential choice?
