WATCH: Prue Leith Sparks Twitter Backlash With 'Suicide' Comment On This Morning

WATCH: Prue Leith Sparks Twitter Backlash With 'Suicide' Comment On This Morning

Earlier this year, the nation was left open-mouthed after Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith accidentally tweeted the name of the winner hours before the show aired.

Following her awkward mistake, the 77-year-old quickly explained what had happened, writing: "I am so sorry to the fans of the show for my mistake this morning, I am in a different time zone and mortified by my error."

And now she has spoken out on TV for the first time since the blunder.

Appearing on This Morning, the culinary icon made a heartbreaking confession about how what had happened had made her feel 'suicidal'...

Following her confession, many fans took to Twitter to question her 'unwise' choice of words, with one claiming it was 'insulting' to those with mental health issues.

"Suicidal. That's rather insulting to those suffering mental health issues Prue. Unwise choice of word. ," wrote one annoyed viewer.

"She was suicidal because of a tweet? Get a grip Prue - there are more important things to worry about ," slammed another.

A third added: "Prue Leith needs to watch what she is saying! When asked by the presenters how she felt after tweeting the winner of the bake of to early she said she felt suicidal!! Disgraceful [sic]."

However, things took a more lighthearted turn after fans jokingly took aim at the judge's very 'familiar' looking outfit.

Likening her to a character out of Harry Potter, one viewer joked: "Nice of Prue Leith to pop in to before her Quidditch match."

Another added: "Why does Prue Leith look like she's about to go and play a game of Quidditch for Gryffindor?"

"Prue is great and loved her on GBBO! But why is she dressed like a Gryffindor Quidditch player?" said a third.

Others likened the GBBO star to a Buddhist monk, with one fan writing: "Prue Leith's outfit suggesting an identity struggle, Dalai Lama or Hogwarts reject."

"Why is Prue Leith dressed like a Buddhist Monk?" asked somebody else.

"Why was Prue Leith dressed as a Madhymaka Monk on today? Is this her new calling?" tweeted yet another baffled viewer.

I don't know about you, but I think this whole Hogwarts turns monk monastery thing might catch on. I know what I'm wearing for the Christmas party this year.
