While the whole world seems enthralled in Netflix's docuseries Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, some viewers have noticed a frightening connection between the serial killer and You's Joe Goldberg.

It goes without saying there's some obviously similarities because, you know, they're both serial killers and they're both uncomfortably charming which no doubt worked massively in their favour when luring their victims. However, it's actually something a little more subtle.

Anyone who's watched the docuseries about Bundy may have noticed that his wife, Carole Ann Boone, referred to the serial killer as 'Bunny', which is the exact same nickname given to You's Joe by his former girlfriend Candace.

It could be a coincidence, or it could be a subtle way of writers letting us know that the similarities between the two killers are no accident.

The connection hasn't been lost on some fans, who took to Reddit to highlight their similarities.

User, KristaMarie95, brought up the point, saying: "I was watching the new Ted Bundy documentary on Netflix and something really stuck out to me. Apparently Carol Boone, his advocate and wife, called Ted 'Bunny'.

"This reminded me of all the times we hear Candace [from You] call [sic] Joe 'Bunny' in the show. This could be a coincidence but I thought it was an interesting connection."

A second viewer added: "Joe gave me Bundy vibes as soon I started watching the show. An iconic car, messy brown hair, good looking, charming, intelligent. Maybe they purposely painted him that way, took inspo."

Another speculated that the link could be mirrored in the narrative of You.

They said: "I also watched the Ted Bundy Tapes and seen that! But she was obsessed with him and didn't believe he would do anything evil and even testified in his defence? Wonder if Candace will come back and try save him?!"

A very interesting theory. We can't wait to find out.
