Netflix Viewers 'Disturbed' By 'The Disappearance Of Madeleine McCann' Scene
There's no definitive answers on what happened to Madeleine in Praia da Luz on the evening of 3rd May in 2007.
And while The Disappearance Of Madeleine McCann arguably gives viewers no new information on the case, it does explore 'theories' suggested by police and the public over what could have happened to the little girl.
One of those theories is deeply disturbing, claiming that the three-year-old was taken from her bed by an 'international paedophile ring'.
Despite this never having been proven by authorities, the streaming giant explored this possibility further by showing a man entering the hotel room wearing a surgical mask in a 'reenactment'.
The scene was truly terrifying and viewers took to Twitter terrified by the scenes, unable to get moment out of their minds.
"On the topic of the Madeleine McCann documentary. Is it just me who was actually terrified of the actor in the mask reenacting getting into a kids bed. I was nearly crying. Couldn't look at the screen," one person wrote on Twitter.
Another added: "The bit on the Madeleine McCann doc where that scary man wearing the doctors mask gets in bed with that little girl, I'm terrified I don't think I'll ever sleep again."
The Disappearance Of Madeleine McCann has been steeped in controversy since it aired, with the girl's parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, refusing to appear in the eight-part documentary over fears it would fuel conspiracies and hinder the on-going search for Maddy.
Madeleine went missing while her parents were dining in a tapas restaurant in the resort where they were staying at in Algarve, Portugal. The girl was asleep with her two siblings in the apartment, with Kate and Gerry checking on them throughout the evening.
At 10pm, Kate discovered that her daughter was missing, and authorities are still trying to work out what happened to her.
The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann is now available to stream on Netflix.
