This Is Where All The Leftover Cake Goes On Great British Bake Off

If you're wondering where all the leftover cake goes on Great British Bake Off, then we've done some digging and found answers.

GBBO viewers can be split into two groups. On one side, there are those who drool at the cakes on their TV screens, and rush into their kitchens whip up one of their own at the end of the episode, hoping they'll get a Hollywood handshake of their own.

And then there's the more practical viewers, who all ponder over the fate of all the leftover cake, wondering what happens to it all, hoping it does not go to waste.

Thankfully for the latter group, we have answers.

Series four winner, Chetna Makan, said that once all is said and done, the bakers are the first ones to try their own creations, although it's hard to get a fork in edgeways sometimes.

"Before anyone else jumps on it, they always leave a piece of each bake and all the other bakers get to taste them," Chetna explained to Digital Spy in 2015.

She added: "But it's not just the cameramen who swarm over the food, we definitely do it too.

"We all run to the food made by whoever got the most compliments. Literally, everybody runs, nearly knocking each other over to have a taste."

And once they've indulged on the cake, the crew are the next to taste test the bakes, breads and other fresh out the oven treats.

"The cameramen literally stand there with forks in their back pockets, waiting to swoop as soon as filming stops," series four's Ali Imdad told Birmingham Mail.

"The cakes are meant to be taken to a lunch area where everyone can share them, but they don't usually get that far because the crew eat them first."

According to the former bakers, each oven has a victoria sponge baked inside it every day of the competition to ensure it's working properly, meaning there's even more cake that needs eating at the end of each episode.

Prue previously said that she feeds some of the leftover cake to her neighbour's pigs too.

PRETTY52 has reached out to Channel 4 for official comment on where all the delicious cake goes, although we've had no response yet.
