Anything with Jude Law in has our attention, but when you add Oscar-nominated actress Naomie Harris then you have a drama we really want to sink our teeth into.

Sky Studios and HBO have just announced the Moonlight actress will be joining the The Young Pope actor in the upcoming series The Third Day.

The six part drama will be told in two distinct halves, directed by The Crown's Philippa Lowthorpe and Utopia's Marc Munden, respectively, created by immersive theatre company Punchdrunk's Felix Barrett and written by Utopia's Dennis Kelly.

The first - 'Summer' - will focus on Sam (Jude Law) described as "a man drawn to a mysterious island off the British coast where he encounters a group of islanders set on preserving their traditions at any cost.

The second - 'Winter' follows Helen (Naomie Harris), "a strong-willed outsider who comes to the island seeking answers, but whose arrival precipitates a fractious battle to decide its fate."

Sounds like an amazing mashup between The Beach and Lost just in British waters, doesn't it?

The Third Day is a co-production between Sky and HBO and the first original drama to be produced by Sky's production house, Sky Studios. Plan B Entertainment and immersive theatre company Punchdrunk are also in involved.

Cameron Roach, Director of Drama at Sky Studios, said: "We are thrilled Naomie is joining the cast of Third Day, it's a real testament to the combined vision of Dennis Kelly and (Punchdrunk's) Felix Barrett.

"The prospect of Naomie and Jude Law, alongside an array of incredible British talent, with Philippa Lowthorpe and Marc Munden directing really demonstrates the quality and ambition of this distinctive, original drama."

The Third Day also stars Katherine Waterston (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as Jess, Paddy Considine (The Death of Stalin) and Emily Watson (Kingsman: The Golden Circle), who were announced as cast in July.

Creator Felix Barrett, Artistic Director at Punchdrunk International said: "Filming for The Third Day has begun and it's been a remarkable experience seeing our shared vision come to life.

2We've followed both Naomie's and Philippa's careers for several years, and we are thrilled they will be joining the production."

The six-part limited series will air in the UK and Ireland on Sky Atlantic and Now TV and in the US on HBO next year.

EXCITED.
