When it comes to crime dramas, Netflix always excels. There's Mindhunter, Deep Water and its latest offering, Criminal to name a few...

But the streaming service never sleeps, and its already working on a gripping new series for us, named The Stranger.

Starring The Hobbit star Richard Armitage, the eight part thriller will be based on the novel by Harlan Coben.

It will focus around dad of two, Adam Price, whose perfect family is turned upside down when a stranger in a bar drops a huge bombshell about his wife Corinne.

The secret soon unravels as Coben begins to shine light on the woman Adam thought he knew. And after confronting his wife, he finds himself walking deeper and deeper into a conspiracy that could not only deeply hurt his loved ones, but even spell the end of them...

Adam's wife will be played by Irish actress Dervla Kirwan, while Happy Valley and Broadchurch star Siobhan Finneran will also take a leading role, alongside Game of Thrones' Paul Kaye.

Plus, Absolutely Fabulous star Jennifer Saunders will also be making an appearance.

There's no word yet on when The Stranger will hit screens, although it finished filming last month (August 2019) so its release certainly looks like it could be imminent...

Richard Armitage shared a synopsis of the plot at the start of August and teased: "Coming soon..."

And while he remained coy about the exact date, fans were very excited in the comments.

"I can't wait," one fan wrote in the comments, while another added: "Fantastic i might have to sign up to Netflix."

We're SO READY.

While you're waiting, why not watch another true crime drama, like When They See Us, which is also hugely popular on the platform.

Based on one of the most high-profile crimes in the last few decades, the show follows the true story of the five teenagers - Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise - dubbed the Central Park Five, who were convicted of a rape they didn't commit.

It was spring of 1989 when the teens were first questioned about the assault, and the series will cover the 25-year period from then until they were exonerated in 2002 and reached a settlement in 2014.

We promise it's as gripping as it sounds.
